Skylights provide rooms with a brighter, more open and airy feeling often not possible with standard windows. Skylights, however, don’t help with naptime and have the potential to let sunlight overheat your rooms in the summer and the heat to escape in the winter. At Hunter Douglas we have product solutions made especially for skylights.
Our SimplicityTM skylight system, available on our Duette® and Applause® honeycomb shades, is a manual lifting system specifically manufactured for rectangular windows and especially suited for skylights.
- For greater control of overhead sun, these skylight systems bring the light diffusion and energy efficiency benefits of honeycomb shades to skylight openings
- Greater light diffusion means you’ll experience less glare on television and computer screens
- Side-by-side mounting of shades allows for coverage of windows measuring more than 48 square feet
Our SkyliftTM skylight system, also available on our Duette and Applause honeycomb shades, is specifically suited for skylights, and is offered in both manual and PowerViewTM Motorization. SkyLift is perfect for very large windows.
- Available in 3/8″ semi-opaque and all 3/4″ fabrics, including Architella®, for increased energy efficiency
- SkyLift with manual operation offers a hand crank or telescoping pole for hard to reach windows
Skylight applications are available on these Hunter Douglas products:
- Applause® honeycomb shades
- Duette® Architella® honeycomb shades
- Duette® honeycomb shades
- Somner® Custom Vertical Blinds
- Vertical Solutions® Vertical Blinds
As with all specialty shapes, you should consult with your local Hunter Douglas dealer when deciding which product will work best for your skylights.
For many home owners, the idea of choosing and looking after drapery can be a bit overwhelming. After all, they just cover up the windows? Right?
This year has started off on an amazingly inspirational note for me, as I was able to visit Paris’s Maison & Objet show for the first time, for an eye-popping yet design- appetite satisfying two full days. What’s it like? In one word: Massive. Seven halls the size of a Toronto design show (for example) of companies, designers and artisans organized by themes such as: Actuel (contemporary, would be the “translation”), Elegant (of period and/or very traditional), Cosy (focusing on soft furnishings, drapery, feminine, casual, resort & cottage), Eclectic (artisan, hand-made, unique).
The very best of design, decor and craftsmanship in Britain and beyond was featured at this year’s London Design week at a number of locations. The sheer number of places to go to, special events, companies and products was outstanding, therefore some serious editing of personal favourites had to be done. It’s called a “design week” for a reason; you really need a full week to do it all!
Here’s a few of the most inspiring things I’ve seen, largely focusing on residential interior design and decor and only from a select few of the numerous venues: 100% Design, Decorex and Design Junction’s two locations.
It is time for window blinds and shades to truly complement your lifestyle by adjusting light, temperature and privacy to suit and enhance every mood or activity in each room of the home.
Yes, it’s possible, available right now and coming to a window near you any moment!
